Halloween Treat

I got a surprise in the mail today-a cute Halloween card and pumpkin stitch marker from Dreamy! I suspect it's part of the postcard swap, either that or she is my SP and already gave away her identity! I will post a picture sometime this week.

Exciting Day

This morning I spent about 3 hours knitting with Elizabeth and Terri (sorry, I am not up to speed on linking yet, but I think they both have blogs), both from the knittyboards. It's so nice to be able to talk with other knitters! The time flew by. I made serious progress on my Rib and Cable Sock #1. All I have left is the toe! Terri is also participating in the holiday SP round and she said that she got her match-I wanted to rush home and check my email.

My holiday SP stopped by! Yay! Hello to you!

I got my holiday SP match! I already checked out her blog and I think we're a great match. There is one thing in particular that really got me excited! I'm going to keep quiet about it though, just in case I would give it away and I suppose there is a VERY slim chance she may stop by my blog. I need to get something ready to put in the mail on Monday.

Here's a little something I picked up at the LYS yesterday. The owner is taking a break and pretty much all of the yarn is 50% off! This was my third trip to the store since I found out about the sale. I got some green tweedy sock yarn (color doesn't show up the best here) and some white yarn with bluish/gray specks. I think they will both be good for some of the patterns in Knitting on the Road and Sensational Knitted Socks.
OK, I think I'm going to head out to the yarn store (two days in a row-yikes) to pick out something for my SP.

Hourglass and Postcards

I finally took a pic of my finished Hourglass sweater. This was such a great knit-wonderful mindless knitting for TV watching, car riding, or magazine reading. The yarn is KnitPick's Andean Silk (11 balls). The yarn was so soft to knit with, but somehow when it's knit up, it's pretty scratchy-I have to wear a shirt underneath it.

When I was a kid, my aunt would send me postcards all the time. Her husband was in a band and they traveled all over out west and she would send me postcards from wherever they went. I still have all of those postcards, but they are at my mom's place-next time I'm there, I should bring them back with me. I picked up a new stash of postcards today and should be able to send out a few of them tomorrow.

FO Flashback: The Blue Post

For today's FO flashback, I present to you my recently finished Branching Out scarf from Knitty.The yarn is the Silky Wool recommended in the pattern. This was my first lace project and I was so frustrated intially. I had to sit in a completely silent room and chant the pattern out loud in order to get it right. Once I got going though, I could knit it while half-watching TV. There will be more lace in my future.
These socks are made with KnitPicks sock yarn. I can't remember the exact name of the yarn right now. The yarn was great to work with, but showed a bit of wear after only one wearing.

I started these during my first and only knitting class: Toe-Up Socks for Sock Knitters. I did buy supplies from my LYS, but ended up not using the yarn or needles for my project. But that's another post for another day.

This little kitty came home

I finally got my Halloween kitty back from the framer. I was getting worried-I had dropped it off a couple of months ago! I have a bunch of stuffed Halloween kitties (most of them are Boyd's Bears) and this is a welcome addition to my Halloween decorations.

In my excitement over starting a blog, I uploaded a few pictures to Flickr, not realizing that I was going to quickly use up my monthly limit. Live and learn. I'll be resizing from now on. It adds another step to the process, but blogging is quicker than I thought it would be. I've got a whole bunch of FO photos and will be posting them occasionally. I don't knit as much as many of the other bloggers out there (I'm jealous of you people who can knit for hours on end!).

I signed up for knitty's Holiday SP round. I am soooo excited! This is my first SP round. I must admit, it's what really pushed me over the edge in getting a blog. I want my SP to know a little bit more about me than what's in my survey. I have a bunch of ideas in my head of things I want to do and give to my SP, but I need to get her (his?) survey to see what she likes!

I currently have a sweater and some socks on the needles.

Meet Sitcom Chic in pieces. She's made of LB Cotton Ease. I've had many issues with the sleeve. I worked on it with bamboo DPNs during a SnB. When I got home, I realized I had done my M1's wrong AGAIN and had to frog about 3 or 4 inches. I wasn't liking the DPN's either, so I splurged and got some 12" Addi Turbos in Sz. 8. They are great for doing stockinette sleeves, especially with cotton. I knit pretty tightly, so the Addis work great.

Next up we have the Rib and Cable sock from Fall 2005 IK. I'm using the yarn called for in the pattern (Mountain Colors Bearfoot). Love it, love it, love it. I'm sure the colors are not going to look very nice here, but let me tell you, I cannot wait to wear these things. (Things? So far there is only half of one...oh well.)

Finally, I leave you with a lovely look at fall. I live next to a cemetary at it has the most gorgeous, huge maple trees.

FO Flashbacks-Sock #1

This is the first sock I made.

It turned out really well, considering I had no idea what I was doing. The pattern was from Martha Stewart Living's December 2004 issue and let's just say, now that I've been knitting for awhile, I've seen sock patterns that are much clearer. The yarn is Regia and I had a lot of fun watching the pattern emerge.

Learning to Blog

After spending too much time trying to figure out what I'm doing, I have managed to add some links to my sidebar. We'll see if I am able to post a picture.

This was the first scarf I made. Last fall I was sucked by a powerful force into the yarn section of Michael's. I had sworn I wasn't going to knit until I was an old lady. I was already a quilter. I've done just about every other craft. I left the store with a Lion Brand learn to knit kit. I started my scarf the day after Thanksgiving. Since then I have knit almost every day.

The scarf is a combination of garter, stockinette, and 2 x 2 rib.

My First Post

I've been debating for a few months whether or not to start a blog. I finally gave in.
